Forex Markets meets Mobile Trading

It had to happen. At some point, the modern financial markets had to be transferrable to portable internet devices. These days, the idea of sitting at a computer screen and reviewing charts for hours on end is simply not appealing, and it's no surprise that people want to be able to take the markets with them, no matter where they go.

FX trading is a multi-trillion dollar business (daily), with an estimated $6 billion of currency swapping hands every weekday. Because so many people want to get in on this action, and people are starting FX trading at a younger and younger age, Forex trading platforms need to be brought in to the 21st century, and the only way to do that is to make them mobile.

Just imagine if it was possible to trade from the golf course. How about it you're waiting in line at the grocery store and you think of a trading idea you want to check out? Thankfully, because Forex trading is now migrating to mobile devices all throughout the world, these situations are entirely possible.

Wireless Forex Trading

To make mobile Forex trading possible – there is one thing which is absolutely needed. Obviously, to place a trade, you need to be within the coverage zone of either a Wi-Fi network, or a 3g phone network.

If not, you'll have a hard time getting the trading platform online to place a trade. This is the only real restriction to mobile Forex trading at this point, and it is something which you need to keep in mind.

In addition – think about the following situations where mobile Forex trading might not be as convenient, reliable, or trustworthy as a computer based trading desk:

  • Outages on the 3G network. In many instances, a 3G outage may completely stall a Forex trading platform, because a 2G network simply isn't fast enough.
  • Places where 3G and Wi-Fi don't exist. Some remote parts of the country will present issues for professional mobile Forex traders.
  • Quote delays during busy periods. Often, during news events or volatile markets, re-quotes will be issued because of the slower networks used for mobile trading.

For some people, these will be significant enough issues to put them off mobile trading altogether. Ultimately, it depends on whether or not the coverage provided for mobile devices is satisfactory, or whether you will be plagued by an ever-developing network.

To avoid teething problems with mobile Forex trading, it's highly recommended that you do your research first. If you then decide that mobile Forex trading is for you – go for it and download the application apps through your broker. You'll be trading from the grocery line in no time!
